Gouveia is the son of former Washington Redskins LB Kurt Gouveia.

Head coach Mickey Thompson: “The main thing he brings is a toughness and an attitude. He’s not just a cover guy, although he can cover routes. He comes up and makes a big tackle. Around here, he’s known as a big hitter. He doesn’t just make leg tackles…he’ll come up and hit.”
