Actually, what I'd REALLY suggest


Is that universities get out of the semi-pro sports game entirely. The incentives are clearly at cross purposes with nearly everything else higher education is supposed to be about.

In my perfect world there might be some sort of minor-league football structure that, sure, universities might have a cross-promotional licensing or marketing agreement with to carry on the tradition ... but that's about it.
