If the MWC does end up adding NM State as a full member

then it would be interesting to see who the MWC will get as the 14th member. A conference cannot play a round robin division schedule and everyone plays the same number of conference games when 1 division has 6 members and 1 divisions has 7 members. The MAC found that out when it had 13 members.

What I don't know is whether the NCAA would overlook the bylaw violation for the MWC like it did for the MAC or force the MWC to have an even number of football members. If the MWC decides to drop a current member to remain at 12 (with the addition of NM State), then I am assuming Hawai'i would be the likely candidate. Hawai'i would probably become either a FBS Independent or switch to the FCS as an Independent or member (probably football-only) of the Big Sky.
