FSU in Blacksburg in about 1979. They had an AA DT named Ron Simmons and
I don't know who else. As I remember it, we were leading and FSU driving. We were making a goal line stand and the sold out crowd of 33,000 was going nuts. The FSU QB backed off the line of scrimmage several times (back when the ref could tell the crowd to be quiet). It happened several times and the announcement was made that if the crowd didn't quiet to let them run their play we would be called for a penalty. I don't recall if they actually called a penalty but it seems like they had more than a single set of downs from in close. FSU scored a TD and went on to win a pretty close one. That felt like a turning point in the game, at least as I recall it almost 40 years later.
