There is no denying the great success Hite had coaching the running backs. But the end of Beamer's career was already well in motion when Beamer replaced Hite in 2011. Hite's ability to coach and recruit were tailing off. It's perhaps true that Shane wasn't able to match Hite's ability at the time. But Tech's offensive production stagnated several years before Hite stepped down.
