between the ages of eight and 18. I am very blessed with wonderful wife and high achieving children. I understand your goal, but several things will happen in time. One, it won't be "yours" and the "wife and kids car". at the very least, on Saturday, wife will say I'll take nice car, you take highlander with kids. She will be happy because she is free, in the nice car. You will drive kid car and be appalled at what the kids do to the wife's car.

You might be bold to the wife and suggest she cleans up the cheerios, empty bottles and diapers in the back seat. But more then likely, she'll hand you a trashbag and say clean it up while I take the nice car and go shopping and out to lunch with a friend.

Second, the "nice car" issue becomes a bit of a challenge when your kids have bicycles, baseballs, and any other assortment of toys. Ideally you can protect the nice car in a spot the kids can't get within 20 feet. But if you have your average driveway, more than likely, its paint will be scraped by bicycle pedals. The windows will catch the baseball your son missed.

Third, there will be the schedule challenge once your kids become involved in youth sports. You'll have the idea that the kid car will be used to take the kids to kid events. so wife will send you in the Highlander. She'll love the freedom in the nice car, go get he nails done, have lunch with friends. Or she'll say you have to pick the kids up from soccer. But you'll be in the nice car. They'll love the automatic windows, high end stereo system, leather seats in which you can draw pictures with your finger nails.

I get the idea. Nice car and kids car. I'll just be interested to hear how it works out for you in ten years. My experience is you can't separate the chaos of parenthood from you clean professional sanitized world. Don't let me scare you, just trying to prepare you.
