I'm going to interpret this as "Most Expensive in comparison to income"

When I was very young, maybe 8 or 9, my allowance was only $1 a week. I wanted a new bike that would cost about $60. Throw in birthday money, christmas, etc. and I saved for almost a year (spent a few bucks here and there).

So it was a cost essentially a year's income.
