Not sure if they "dominated" state recruiting in Texas


I agree they may get more of the top talent then the other schools in texas, but domination would be a stretch. They certainly haven't dominated the QB recruiting. Last QB they had drafted was Colt McCoy in 2010. Thats a long stretch for a supposed top program. Although there are 12? FBS programs in Texas diluting the talent pool, its surprising that they can't get better QB recruits.

Part of it is coaching. Charlie Strong was a good defensive mind, but I think one of the worst offensive minded coaches in some time and QB recruits knew it. Its amazing that just in the past few years, a school like Texas Tech could recruit top talent and NFL draft picks like Davis Webb, Patrick Mahomes, and eventual Oklahoma xfer Baker Mayfield (likely 1st round draft pick), but Texas couldnt and still hasn't produced a QB draftee in 8 years.
