I think you are missing the point.
In that particular example I am referring to giving up a late TD to go up by 2 scores. The primary mission of the defense in that scenario is to prevent the offense from scoring any points that make it a 2 possession game. It doesn't matter if the opposing offense is GT, Boise St, BC, UVA-Wise's UVA at C'ville, Kansas, St. Albans, or Roanoke YMCA.
Also, you are missing the point that some of the TDs were a result from big gains. Scores from big gains are typically associated with momentum swings in the game. When an offense is depended on gaining big chunks of yards to keep from getting behind the sticks, then it is obvious a primary mission of the defense is to limit giving up "big plays." Heck GT's passing tree only has 1 route on it; the 9 route (kinda TIC).
