Our whole family got the shot but my 2 year old got the flu

So obviously he was not immunized against the strain that he caught. My wife, my 5 year old, and I did not catch what he brought to us. My theory is that we have antibodies to whatever he caught that he does not have because he's 2 and we have all been exposed to more than he has in his shorter life.

My wife and I did have a bit of a runny nose, soreness, and sore throat, which were the same symptoms as he showed. I just never felt nearly as bad as he did, and no fever on our part.
