Nothing shifted. The record was always LT was not a QB. (LT interview link)
ON HIS RECRUITMENT TO TECH:
“I didn’t know if I was going to play tight end or receiver coming in. Day before camp they told me you’re playing quarterback."
ON WHY HE DIDN'T LIKE QB:
“I never I had the want-to. I always wanted to catch the ball and run the ball. I guess at that point in time, I didn’t want to have all the weight of the world on my shoulders."
ON THE THE COACHES ASKING HIM TO PLAY QB AT TECH:
“I remember it, because I thought that all the way up to the point they told me we’re going to try you out at quarterback that day before camp. I just kind of think back like, what? Because in the recruiting process I was like, any school who offers me to be a quarterback, I’m not going there. I don’t want to play quarterback. I want to play tight end or receiver. Then they got me on campus and moved me to quarterback and, I don’t know. I guess it’s the best thing for me now.”
SOUNDS LIKE THE OL' BAIT-AND-SWITCH...
“When you look at it that way, it kind of was [laughs]. But they said they just needed help at the quarterback position at the time, so they were going to put me there and try me out for a couple weeks and if they think I was good enough they would leave me there."
