I think it's a great move. I think they were more worried about belicheck

exiting NE and landing somewhere and Garropolo happily going back to him. Everything I hear is that Bill did NOT want Jimmy G. to get traded and was mucho unhappy.

Which tells me he thinks it is time to hang it up with Brady. It might hurt for 1 or 2 years but for the long term health of the franchise, Jimmy G is the better option at this point.
