Most Eng Students could use a redshirt year; OK when I was there 40+ yrs
ago; if memory serves and Eng Degree I needed to take 210+ credit hours (tri-mesters in the 70's) and a business major was 180. So that mean Engineers were taking 8 credit hours more per year than a business major. That is an extra 3 credit course every quarter. No wonder we looked like we never slept.
So if Patterson is studying engineering, he will need the extra year if all items have stayed constant. This is also why you don't see that many engineers in sports; time management is a premium. Can you imagine getting up at 5:30 for weight training and then going into Thermodynamics or Physical Chemistry. Even Heisenberg would have trouble with that dual schedule; then again he might not have.
