Agreed. Both he and Michaels were absolutely clueless.
That was an easy call to make. The receiver had clearly caught the ball cleanly and had taken two full strides toward the end zone. Had his legs not been cut out from under him at the 3 yard line he would’ve strolled in easily. Since he was, at that point, a ball carrier and not a pass receiver, as soon as the ball broke the plane of the end zone it was a touchdown. Whatever happened after that did not matter.
