Think big inconsistency with athletic dept and administration

They haven't been able to keep a stable athletic director with a sound development plan. We don't see much in contributions and efforts to increase fan season tickets and engagement with the community. (All which takes money).

I don't see university leadership engaged in athletics, at all.

Pitt went into the rabbit hole, in focusing on the arena, tearing down pitt stadium and sharing with the steelers. They got a WONDERFUL deal with the steeler organization, so operationally they were able to cut costs but train in top notch NFL training facilities and first class stadium. And no debt. They were able to focus on building the new basketball arena, and focus on basketball since at the time they thought they would be always in the big east........

Now, they are trying to revitalize football, tough job...putting good product on the field, and getting folks to attend, when so many other things to do. basketballl has crashed, and even though they have a great facility, they are having crowds of 3-4 k and they might be as significant as duquesne. the only thing is they are in the acc and the revenue.... their other sports are not very competitive.

Looking at the syracuse, boston college and pitt, I personally see that pitt is the struggling program. its adrift. BC trying with a sharp energetic AD who was the No 2 at ohio state and syracuse has a savvy AD as well and we are seeing energy in the football program.

Pitt appears just drifting....they need to have within the university what do they really want out of intercollegiate athletics. and what are they truly interested in investing????
