The biggest inconsistency is the effort, and that's the disappointing part.

Buzz said that after the game. I specifically asked him about still being forced to coach the team to play hard. He said he benched KJ because he wasn't playing hard, and that it is disappointing to have a team that features a decent amount of upperclassmen and still have to worry about them playing hard.

At the end of the first half, we had Bede and Horne in the game over more veteran players because they were playing harder. And guess what? Those guys got stops. Defense is at least 50% about effort and WANTING to stop somebody. Those guys wanted to get stops and they did.

The rest of the team wanted to get stops in the second half when their backs were against the wall, and they did. They wanted to get stops late against FSU, and they did. They played much better defense (I.E. played harder) in the last 3 games, one of which was against UNC and two of which were on the road. When their backs are against the wall, and they feel a sense of urgency, they play hard and play good defense. But get them in a situation where they are favored like at home against FSU and Miami, and their defense/effort is pretty appalling until the second half, and by then it is too late.

We need a badass/enforcer type. A Jamon or a Brant Matthews. We need somebody with some toughness. I don't care what position he plays. But we need somebody who you don't want to get into a fight with. With don't have anybody like that right now.
