Yikes...I spoke with the same subcontractor again today...

He says there is no way the project will be complete by the deadline of February 1, and he said that the G.C.'s contract includes LDs of $100,000/day past the deadline. I'm sure the deadline is for "substantial completion", which in my experience is usually tied to the issuance of the certificate of occupancy, or at the least, an approved final building inspection. The person I spoke with today said he is not even scheduled to return to the site until 2/21, which would indicate a significant late penalty may be levied, as his scope would affect substantial completion.

Sounds like this could get ugly.
