Devin is a perfect example of the luck involved


When I say luck, I'm not suggesting that anyone lucks his way into being a National Champion. As far as I'm concerned, any guy in the top 3 or 4 or 5 of any weight class has a legitimate chance, and Devin definitely had the talent and drive to win it. But sometimes in a weight class, there is a clear and distinct #1 - and then everyone else. Snyder, Retherford, and oh yeah, a rare 4x NC like Logan Stieber.

Other times, absent that nearly unbeatable #1, several guys have a shot. Like 125 last year, when Darian Cruz won it.
