If the team loses, the team loses. A 7-5 season wouldn't bother me nearly as much as losing a game that, by all accounts, VT probably shouldn't lose, then look AMAZING the rest of the season, lose one really, really good game, then miss out on a chance at the ultimate prize because of that first game. That seemed to me to be the staple of the 2000s after making it to the BCS in '99.

Just look at the stupid 2010 season. If VT (yet again) doesn't crap the bed against Boise, they most likely don't lose to JMU. They ran the table until the Orange Bowl. Had they run the table to begin with, they'd have been in the NC hunt, being talked about all year.

Instead, they were dismissed throughout the year having lost a National, Primetime game, and then to JMU. That's worse to me.
