This is the idea that will destroy college football

A survey of players before the 4-team playoff indicated that a sizeable minority of players DID NOT WANT a playoff. The players that participate in the playoff will generally be those that have the most to lose in the event of injury. When it comes down to glory for your school versus economic security for you and your family for the rest of your life, smart players with NFL futures will sit out the playoff. We see it in bowls now, and it's not that hard to imagine that it will happen if the networks go for a cash grab by expanding the playoff.

What fanboys don't understand is that all it will take is ONE GUY to stand up and say he refuses to participate in a pro-style playoff solely to make money for billion dollar networks and universities. This will be the next #metoo movement where players take a stand, and the stars bolt for draft prep camps and leave the playoff in their rear views. And that is the end of college post season.

15 games (1 shy of an NFL regular season) is enough, and before anybody even proposes going full professional mode for these kids, they need to do a player survey to determine whether these kids even want to participate. That survey needs to include those with the most to lose - the stars. If the stars won't play, you don't have a playoff.
