Is that partly due to the Millennial Effect?

I encounter many young people in the workplace and elsewhere that don't care for or follow college football or basketball. And if they do, they're streaming a game on their phone while hanging out at a coffee shop, micro brewery or hookah lounge.

My son is a Freshman at Tech. He said his roommate and suite mates go to football and basketball games, but leave early. If it's a game on TV, he says many of them have short attention spans and would rather do or watch something else. My son has been a rabid Tech fan since birth, so maybe he just thinks everyone else is soft when it comes to rooting for his school. But I notice it too. His friends (at Tech, UVa, WVU and OSU) seem to have very little passion for their schools.

I think this current generation lacks interest in the games and it's starting to show.
