I don't think I'm following...are you saying the extender is connected...


...to the main router via in-wall network cabling? In other words, the main router is connected to an Ethernet wall jack in the basement via a patch cable, and that wall jack is wired either through a switch or through the walls directly to another jack on the main floor, where the extender connects via another patch cord?

My apologies if I'm being dense about this.
