It might if the alternative is to switch football to DI-FCS

so BYU could join the Big Sky Conference for all sports or the Pioneer Football League for football. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of western schools (Rockies-Pacific Coast) that participate in DI-FCS football, so the choices are limited. I don't think BYU would ever consider dropping down to DII or even DIII for all sports as an option.
