Well, yes and no.


Most of the Big 12 third tier rights will be under the ESPN umbrella if this thing passes anti-trust muster. But Rupert Murdoch and the Murdoch family will be pulling the puppet strings. They are still majority owners of BTN and the other FOX sports properties not in the RSN package.

It won't be much trouble transferring those rights back to FOX if the Murdochs want it to happen. James Murdoch will probably be Disney CEO after Iger "retires". And he will retire when the Murdochs want him to. The Murdochs have extended his retirement date from 2019 to I believe 2021.
