"You haven't refuted my statement at all"

"You brought historical facts"

Those two statements came right after each other...

Based on today and the last 5 years (and the last 20 years for that matter) I can say without a doubt that UVa will flame out in the tournament...it is what your scheme is built around

It's a great scheme to even the playing field against superior opponents. If you bring in the right players to play within the system you can even make some headway and win some games you otherwise shouldn't (and that's exactly what they've been able to do).

What the system isn't designed for is the magnifying glass that is the NCAA Tournament.

Typically during the season a basketball staff will operate 3-4 games in advance. For instance, if your next 4 games are UNC, Pitt, Duke, Wake you'll have one assistant concentrate on 1 game and 1 game only, but the other guys are all watching film on a different game.

But in the NCAA Tournament, you have sometimes a full week and every coach watching your film. Not to mention the only film the players have seen all week is that of the next opponent.

This is where the scheme becomes weak. You begin to see the weaknesses in the gaps, you are more apt to find a weak link on the court and exploit a mismatch. You find out that if you continue attacking the gaps of the pack line then you're able to spring open shooters from stressing the help defenders too much. You're able to put guys in spots that they can succeed because you have the time to design a plan to do so.

UVa has done an incredible job of becoming relevant on the national stage with a scheme that is pretty textbook brilliant for evening the playing field. But it has a ceiling lower than most, and a team that wants to claim one of the top 10 in the nation can't have a low ceiling. You flame out in the NCAAs because that's exactly what you're designed to do.

Enjoy the ride you're on, but expecting more than what you're getting will make your life miserable, it's just not coming
