That’s fine, I’m just perplexed by the hate some Hokie fans show Shane

Maybe not true hate but just discrediting ANYTHING he’s accomplished as an assistant. He’s got a very good resume. Coached at USCe on some of that program’s best teams in history. He comes here and we have a downturn, and he seems to get WAY too much blame.

Fact is, he was hamstrung in recruiting by 1) Frank’s lame duck status that was planted in recruits heads 2) a major downturn in talent in the Richmond area...did he damage ties? Or did he tell coaches what they didn’t want to hear...there were lots of players with talent he had character questions on...and he was right on some and he got some here that were talented but he wasn’t sure about (character wise) and we got burned. But overall Richmond area has been producing busts more than boon recruits. One of the best we got was Augie Conte and he was very lightly recruited.
3) as RB coach he had awful luck with injuries to 2 four star guys (Shai & Marshawn) and others. He did coach a 1st round NFL pick and nixed DW’s fumble concerns when he was here (they resurfaced in NFL) we also lost a couple talents who turned out to be knuckleheads (Holmes and Drew Harris)

He’s not going to be UT’s coach...that’s ridiculous...but for people to continue to bash a guy who was a key piece of our 1999 team, a Hokie and son of our legendary coach, I just don’t get it.
