I can't. American's LOVE their cars. Almost at an irrational level.


I agree communal transportation makes a lot of sense overall. And it is definitely a FAR more efficient use of resources than everyone owning their own vehicle.

But this is 'Murica. We aren't giving up our cars.

Not to mention, our insatiable appetite for cars and trucks accounts for about 20% of the economy.

If the country tried to go to a fleet service transportation model, something HUGE would have to step in and fill the void of all the transportation jobs that would get hosed. Those are generally very good jobs, too.
