Re: Women's Soccer: 1-0 2OT loss to NC State
Responsibility always rests at the top. The strategy today is exactly the same as it was in 2013 with Jasmine, a player as fast as anyone in country, yet we don't have a player with that speed or the complimentary size of Muriel. Long balls to a single forward 30 yards ahead of the next teammate, surrounded by 4 defenders does not work and never will. Driving to the corner time after time to cross to players that are considerably shorter than the other team or not even in the play isn't working. We have an enormous number of corners and almost no conversions...try something different than crossing it straight to their goalie. I don't think talent is total issue, I think inflexibility to adapt to what you have and ability to recruit players that fit your style is issue. If you are going to play long ball year after year, then why are you signing 5 foot forwards. I think there are other major player/coach issues, just look at recent transfers, several of which were either starters or high minute players. Several injuries have not helped, but i would be shocked if Chugger is coach next season, the trajectory over last 4 years is wrong direction and regardless of recruiting class next years record will be no better if not worse.
