Tech Sideline Wrestling Fans-
Hope all is well out there, just wanted to check in and fill you in on a couple happenings w/ the Hokies...we are obviously in full swing with wrestle-offs 5 days away and our first dual with Pac 10 power Stanford coming to town in 12 days. Our guys weights are great, as we have come down every week with our normal Friday matches and hit +2 this last week and the boys looked great! Our upper classmen are setting the tone, and the youngsters are not far behind...Gus, Sully, McFadden, ZZ and Haught are in great shape and ready to build right where the left off, the sense of urgency for them is through the roof and thats what we like to see! The younger guys are feeding off it and rising to the challenge! Questions about the freshman on campus, have been answered and we are seeing some guys putting themselves in position challenge right away. Mekhi and Hunter have really set the tone, with Smeltzer, Borst, and Manley not too far behind, definitely and exciting true freshman class we have!
W/ that said, we as a staff have been hitting the recruiting trails hard, and with the amount of info you guys have, you know we are right there with all the big time teams...some of these kids see the brands of others schools and their past success, but I can promise you we are on their tails, and the product this current team will produce will start turning the recruiting tide our way.
We appreciate all the continued support from the Hokies faithful, as well the new and old SERTC donors, family and friends. The program is excited to get this season going and got an early season push from Volunteer Asst. Ty Walz, dominating the U23 World Team Trials! Ty will compete in the World Championships in Poland in late November, and you can find more info and ways to help support him and his family going to Poland at http://www.southeastrtc.com.
