The Cal athletics budget problem is almost entirely due to the stadium


boondoggle. That deal is going to cripple athletics for decades, and it probably (almost certainly?) will impact the academic side of campus as well.

Cal does work and spend to try to keep up with Stanford (an impossible task), but they screwed themselves with the stadium.
