I'm a Red Sox fan since the 1970s. There is nothing a fan can do to stomach these defeats. For the Red Sox, all the pieces were there to break their long streak of futility, but '86, '88, '90 they came up short. Finally in 2004, down 0-3 to the Yankees and only their next to last at bat, David Ortiz picks the team up, and the rest is history.

The Nats playoff performance is gut-wrenching. We know now that its just how they roll. Bryce Harper will go to the Yankees. Zimmerman, Strasbourgh, Scherzer and Gio are all short lived in DC and Nats fans will just have to wait for another year. That's baseball
