Now, I'm not sure exactly sure what you have to do to get his respect, however Kyle Bailey and Buzz had a really good relationship and Buzz did some great interviews on his radio show before he left and he was only a local guy.

Buzz didn't just give away his respect, you have to earn it and him and Berman have had their issues from Day 1 (pretty sure someone inside Cassell prepared him for that and that's been the case with all VT Men's Basketball coaches).

Just look how Buzz's introductory press conference went. That was for the fans and the program and the media guys were just along for the ride. Personally don't have an issue with it at all however I know that pissed off a lot of media folks.
