As I said below, the only way I could see UEFA invite MLS
to join either competitions (and the US remains in CONCACAF) is if enough big name stars (in their prime) start signing with a MLS club instead of a European club. Even then it may be an uphill battle for MLS to be allowed to participate in UEFA competitions given the football organizational bodies are continent driven.
If MLS wants to compete in UEFA, then it could also require the US to leave CONCACAF. At least I am not sure UEFA would allow MLS to join its competitions while allowing the US to remain in CONCACAF. If the US did decide to join UEFA, then it wouldn't be the first time a country a joined a football body governing another continent.
CONCACAF - French Guiana, Guyana, and Suriname (located in South America)
UEFA - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkey
AFC - Australia, Guam, and Northern Mariana Islands (former Oceania members)
