Two things

1. This is the biggest game VT has played in some time. GameDay in town. VT undefeated. Opponent undefeated. Game at night. I think many fans are excited and anxious. Fans want to perform well on this big stage. Fans want this primetime game against a primetime opponent to be a springboard for the program, recruiting, etc.

2. Wanting to win this game and seeing it as a big opportunity isn't in any way antithetical to wanting to win the division, win the conference, or go to the playoff. In fact, winning the next game on the schedule is a good way to progress toward those bigger goals.

I think you're kind of arguing a point no one disagrees with.

I mean, if you asked people, would you rather:

A). Beat Clemson in the regular season and lose the division
B). Lose to Clemson in the regular season and play in the ACC championship game

I think most would choose B. But we want C (beat Clemson in the regular season and play for the ACC championship).

What's wrong with that?
