I think many are missing the big picture...
Football is in decline. I've posted over and over that football has had a relatively long run as the dominant american sport, but the history of american sport is that it changes. Baseball had a MUCH longer run before it showed decline.
The truth is that people just aren't as interested in football today. Go to any block party and your neighbors are talking about soccer, lacrosse, or some other formerly 'obscure sport.' Political strife, interminable ad breaks, unrealistic pricing, and public indifference are killing the NFL not so softly.
I've posted this in the past and people always respond that football is king and it always will be just because... I do not believe the college football business will do well if the NFL continues to decline at its current rate, and I hope the ACC leadership is working on Plan B.
