audience. My logic would have lead to a bunch of 50-60 year olds who read the books back in the 80s as seeing the movie, and that doesn't ring true, young people like horror movies... not guys like me.

I like Statman's challenge, if all other movies based on King's books have only done "OK" why now? and I can only speculate, just good timing, people are ready for it? or maybe just more visual than literary? (It would be paradoxical that not knowing it was a King book helped ticket sales)
