The baseball expansion is more seats and amenities.
It is basically expanding the stadium all the way down the right field line, adding club level seating on the field level, and building offices for the coaching staff, training areas, locker rooms, and player development batting cages inside the stadium underneath.
Similar to the other projects for golf and tennis, UVA is planning to get the coaches for the non-football sports out of the McCue Center where the athletic department and football are today and into their own venues so they basically live in their venue. I just assume that if they do a project down the right field line, they will eventually do another one down left field. But this project is for right field.
For softball, the project isn't to add seats. It's to do similar to baseball in adding indoor practice facility with two batting tunnels, coaches offices, players lounge, players locker rooms, and administrative support space. This too is part of getting these coaches out of the McCue Center and into their own home. There is also something about changing the entrance to the parking lot as well.
Whomever is chosen as the new Athletic Director needs to help drive these projects to successful completion along with similar stuff for tennis and golf that has been announced. And they've announced a new operations facility for football.
There is nothing new about U-Hall. I just hope some use for it is found other than demolishing it. Right now, soccer, lacrosse, and rowing have locker rooms in there. It is right across the street from Klockner Stadium. But it is more than locker rooms. [Post edited by HOO86 at 09/05/2017 7:21PM]
