FedEx venue
Playing a game there makes one appreciate the professionalism and attention to detail of Lane Stadium games. The physical facilities were great but the problems were many -
-traffic to enter stadium was awful. 45 minutes in line to wait to scan parking pass and we were 4 hours before kickoff
-parking lot was a free for all with people grabbing as much area as they could. No one telling them they couldn't.
-parking lots had very limited port a johns. In our lot, many people, mostly guys, went to the fence at the back. There were some holes in the fence to shimmy thru so guys and girls went thru and went on the trees and bushes available. Maybe 75 yards from an apartment building and street.
-parking lots had little or no trash cans. We carried our trash when we went to the game and found a dumpster very close to the stadium. Most people just gave up and left trash all over the lot. It looked and smelled like a garbage dump when we left after the game.
-to get in, you had to go thru an airport type scanner. Our gate had 3 scanners and hundreds if not thousands going thru it. We spent 30 minutes in a scrum pushing toward the scanners. At the scanner, you placed everything in a trough -change, keys, phone. Then you picked thru the stuff on the other side to get your stuff.
-Concession prices were obscene. A 16 ounce Stella was $10.50. A small cocktail was $13. Water $5 and soda was $6.
-It was a beautiful evening but most employees seemed to not want to be there. Or maybe that is just the way it is in a big city.
Looking forward to well managed games coming up in Lane!
Go Hokies!!
