The time that they own the media rights for the content is specified.


And ESPN does have to renegotiate renewals for new terms and rates. But during the contract, ESPN owns the content and how it can be distributed.

My point is that the Cable Companies don't own any part of it. The people who want to see the content will pay for it no matter what distribution platform they can watch it on. Moving it over to streaming won't change the fact that it will be a revenue stream for ESPN.
