I agree, but I do think there a percentage of college players


who share that same attitude now. I am not sure if they develop that attitude while in HS or at some point in college. It is possible that even VT had a few players, who had that same attitude. At least I think VT has had a couple players opt to declare for the NFL early before obtaining their undergraduate degree. Honestly, I am not even sure how many of those players ever decided to go back to school and get at least their undergraduate degree.

Also, considering a percentage of athletes (all sports) come from either poorer neighborhoods or locations that may not have the greatest education system, you do have to wonder at times how much "value" was placed on education while they were growing up or was more "value" placed on their athletic ability. Even though The Program was a movie, it wouldn't surprise me if it is a somewhat accurate reflection of what some of these gifted athletes experience. Particularly the all-star defensive player who injures his knee to the point where a NFL career is not an option, so he is left with listening to the final game on the radio at his mama's house (front porch I believe).
