Hokies Baseball Being Honored at Nats Park Aug 8

The Nationals are having VT Day at Nats Park on Aug 8 and Hokies baseball players and coaches have been invited to participate.

Coach Bob Humphreys (former World Series pitcher for the 64 Cardinals, former Washington Senators pitcher 66-70 and VT Coach 74-78) will be delivering the line card pregame and Coach Chuck Hartman (VT Coach 79-06) will be saying "Play Ball" to start the game. They will be joined on field for BP by members of Coach Humphreys teams and by Coach Hartman's former players and assistant coaches, Jay Phillips and Jon Hartness.

Coach Humphreys' players went to back-to-back super regional tournaments in 76 & 77 and rode a school record 31 game win streak to the 77 tournament 40 years ago. Coach Humphreys still holds the highest win percentage of any VT baseball coach.

Coach Hartman's teams won 8 conference championships and went to 4 regional tournaments. He continues to hold the school record for most wins by a VT baseball coach.

Come out to the game early to cheer them on (to watch BP, the Center Field gate opens at 5:05)! The link to order tickets that include a Nationals hat in Hokies colors is below.
