I don't disagree with that VT should see itself as a major brand.


However, I believe the issue is how does ESPN (or any other network) views VT. VT can demand no more weekday games, but if ESPN wants VT to appear on Labor Day Night or a Thursday night, then I don't think VT can refuse because that may qualify as a breach of contract (depending on the contract terms). While it would be nice if college football was just played on Saturdays, it would also mean teams risk receiving less exposure because networks have fewer slots to broadcast games. As it stands now, VT has had every game broadcasted for the last 5 seasons or so (including this season).

If ESPN decided to not broadcast several of VT's games, then do you think VT (or any P5 school) would be willing to pick up the production cost to make sure those games are broadcasted? Honest question since I don't know the answer and could go either way on it.
