I still stand by what I said in a previous post though, all fan bases have idiots and morons. I've been called very disgusting things at pretty much every away venue I've been to, but not by every opposing fan encountered. I've been called "cousin #*%!er" and had things thrown at me in Blacksburg simply walking to and from the stadium without saying a word to anyone. Will I go back, I did many times after and I absolutely will, because a few drunken idiots don't define the fan base.

I've been asked before what do I think is the difference between the VT and WVU fan base, I replied; to me, we are very similar, except VT has more money, they wear more clothes on game day and drink slightly less (haha). O.Luck did a lot of things to change the game day experience in Morgantown and the image. In doing so, he pissed off a lot of what I'll call common fans. Selling beer in the stadium hasn't led to any increase in issues. Ticket prices soared, he priced out the average joe. That in itself cut down on a lot of issues. What I've noticed personally and what the general complaint seems to be, is it's cut down on the intensity that was Mountaineer Field. It was a rowdy, intimidating place. It's average now, unless it's a night game and the right moment or opponent occurs. Even then, it's not threatening to an opposing fan, it's just a loud and energized college football stadium.

I can't help to almost feel a sense of anger when a VT fan says they don't want this series and feel concern for their safety, etc. It's not like Mountaineer nation wants to inflict physical harm and drink Hokie blood, and it's absurd to think that for a second. That anger is directed at the idiots that made them feel that way. This is nothing more than a good ol' fashioned rivalry.
