Random Sunday morning thoughts

First I don't believe P4 will happen. To me it's like trying to put a puzzle together with the wrong pieces. It's true Texas is the key for this to happen and I just don't see them giving anything up. They are the king of the hill in the Big 12. They also have what they call a "Tech problem" in which there are political pressures to include Texas Tech with any move. TCU and Baylor I would think to a lesser degree. Oklahoma may very well leave the conference but it doesn't necessarily mean the conference dies. And any conference that includes the University of Texas will be a power conference.

But for the sake of playing along that P4 does happen, and the ACC gets the nod, there would have to be compromises made by each conference to make it work. No conference can hit a "home run" by adding UT and OU. There would be no reason for others to expand. So with that in mind here we go..

B1G adds Kansas and Iowa State. I know why would they add the Cyclones when they already have Iowa? But they are AAU, have a strong basketball program and good football fans. Again, no one hits a home run.
Adding OU and KU would be too strong of a play and no reason for other conferences to expand.

SEC adds Oklahoma and TCU. Oklahoma is a no brainer for any conference. Adding TCU gives the SEC more exposure in DFW. Move Mizzou to the West. Move Alabama and Auburn to the East.

PAC adds Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas State. Maybe political pressures in Oklahoma and Kansas get resolved if this happens? Baylor left out of P4.

ACC adds West Virginia and Connecticut. Gives the ACC two more flagships. Four pods would work well. If not then consider a radical proposal of an Atlantic Division which includes all original ACC teams and an Eastern Division which includes all former Big East teams. I'm sure Tech and Miami fans would not like this. Protect their cross divisional rivalries with UVA and Florida State. Nine conference games would be essential.

Anyway I doubt any of this ever happens. Just thinking a bit out of the box.
