Re: If we go to a P-4 and 64, (ND stays Indy) who goes where?
Playing the probability that the 4 left are SEC, B1G. ACC and PAC, here's where I think the Big 12 teams go:
Texas and West Virginia to the ACC. ESPN created the Longhorn Network for Texas, and they're creating the ACC Network linear channel that's scheduled to debut in 2019. I think there's a connection there somewhere. The ACC took Notre Dame into their conference without football. I don't think the conference would mind Texas keeping their Longhorn Network. Would any other Power 5 Conference be willing to do that? The addition of Texas to the ACC allows Texas to take their brand from Massachusetts down the east coast to Florida, and to part of the Midwest. In the case of West Virginia, they had the "backyard brawl" with Pittsburgh when both were in the Big East, so they can have that again in the ACC. Virginia Tech and Virginia are close by, and that should reduce the travel budget the Mountaineers endured in the Big 12. I know West Virginia fans think they're SEC worthy, and I would too if I lived in Morgantown, but I don't think they're the first choice of the SEC. Speaking of the SEC...
...Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to the SEC. Former Big 12 rivals Missouri and Texas A&M are currently in the SEC, and the addition of the Oklahoma schools further solidifies the SEC's claim as the best conference in college football that also has the best television network in the Power 5. The money they'll make will be insane. I also think politicians and fans in the state of Oklahoma don't want to see the Sooners and Cowboys separated.
Kansas and Kansas State to the B1G. I know this will be booed by B1G fans, but I think the politicians and fans in Kansas don't want to see the Jayhawks and Wildcats separated either. Kansas' tradition in basketball will enhance the B1G on the court, while Kansas State will be competitive on the football field, as they've had only 1 losing record in their last 8 seasons.
That leaves Baylor, Iowa State, TCU, and Texas Tech to the Pac-12.
