Duke's improvements are a good thing. But

Duke or wake football winning the ACC would be terrible for the conference. I want to see schools like Pitt, UVA, and UNC putting that kind of effort into their programs. They have the potential to grow their fan bases and regularly compete for the ACC title. Further, football isn't just about facilities. You have to spend on coaching and be able to retain quality staff when schools like LSU come looking to hire an OC like Matt Canada.

Duke and Wake elevating their football programs above DivII status is good and necessary for conference success and stability. But they matter much less than the larger state schools with broader alumni bases.
