U of L and others announced exit before they had a place to go

Under the old contracts that made an exit fee dependent upon the timing of an announcement to exit the conference, Louisville and some other Big East members gave the exit notice before they even had a landing spot, so as to minimize the fee if and when the opportunity arose.

This is sort of a different version of the same idea.
