He specifically redshirted a bunch of highly rated wrestlers with the expressed intention to take them with them to Iowa, with all 4 years of their eligibility remaining.

Jim Weaver offered a full release if they would wrestle one additional year for VT in order to give whoever the next incoming coach a chance to recruit their replacements. None took the offer.

Brands actions came close to eliminating the wrestling program...it's survival was on a razor's edge. Thankfully Jim hired the program's savior (Kevin Dresser) and we eventually became a "top 10" wrestling program.
