It's a tough issue. while i agree with Bilas on the basis of his argument

regarding amateurism and the failed logic that goes into setting the transfer rules, there is also a part of me that fears what could happen if all football and basketball players could transfer at will without consequence.

This is particularly concerning for VT and basketball (and keep in mind a fight/debate we have already lived through in wrestling) where so much of our success in attracting talent is directly tied to the popularity of our coach. On principal, I believe it's logical to allow a kid that chose his school in order to play for a specific person to be able to follow up if he should leave and the player wishes to follow. But the notion in the Bilas article that programs wouldn't suffer greatly in such an instance is not necessarily accurate either.
