I think the ACC needs to be concerned about balance of power.


They can't let the SEC (or B1G) snatch up both OU and UT. If that happens, two things will happen.

1. SEC (or B1G) will sniff around to round out a mega conference. For example, in the scenario you describe, SEC might look to add UNC and two others to get to 20. If even if the SEC doesn't take any ACC schools, the B1G will look to raid the ACC to keep up.

2. ACC schools will look around and see how much money the SEC is making, and look to jump ship when the time comes.

Best case scenario for ACC:
Texas and OU come to the ACC
Next best:
B12 merger with Pac12
Worse:
OU and UT go together to either the B1G or the SEC.
